Leanne Ford can’t wait to meet her baby girl.
In an exclusive conversation with PEOPLE ahead of her first child’s birth, the Restored by the Fords star revealed that she and husband Erik Allen Ford are gearing up to welcome their daughter.
“We have this great doctor, who’s been awesome,” says Ford, 37, who shared her pregnancy news exclusively with PEOPLE in October. “So we’re doing [the delivery] a pretty traditional way.”
“I’m just not going to mess with it,” she adds. “I just want to get [her] out safe and sound. I’m like, ‘Let’s do it the old-fashioned way.’ Very traditional of us.”

Despite the fact that this will be her first baby, Ford tells PEOPLE she’s “amazingly” not nervous about giving birth.
“I figure enough women have done this through time. I’m just going to join the ranks,” she explains. “Every one of us is here because somebody did this.”
“I mean, flash forward to me screaming, but I feel ready,” the mom-to-be jokes. “I’m older too, and I’m glad that I had that time. How I feel about it at 37 compared to 27 is probably very different.”
The interior designer has had sweet cravings during her pregnancy more than her usual salty preferences, and praises her husband for his support throughout the past nine months.
“He’s just very supportive,” Ford says. “He’s like, ‘Since I can’t carry the baby, I can help you while you’re carrying the baby.’ He’s been very present … He’s stepping up, which is really sweet.”
Ford will be taking maternity leave “for a couple months” after her baby girl arrives, and tells PEOPLE she is “very prepared for life to fully change” for herself and Erik, who she married in a spur-of-the-moment ceremony in November 2017.
“Our daughter and my husband are my priority now. Career and work have always been amazing, but your priorities, they say that they change, and that’s so true,” she says. “So I just want to give her a nice little life, and then enjoy my family.”
Restored by the Fords season 2 premieres March 19 at 9 p.m. EST/8 p.m. CST, with back-to-back episodes on HGTV.
