There have been a handful of new beauty executive moves lately, including a new hire for makeup innovation at The Estée Lauder Cos. Inc., and a new merchandiser at Sally Beauty.
Here are the latest beauty executive hires:
L'Oréal Veteran Sam Cheow Joins Lauder to Head Makeup Innovation
Sam Cheow has joined the Estée Lauder Cos. as senior vice president of corporate makeup innovation.
In the role, Cheow will be in charge of accelerating the makeup category, which has been slow in the U.S. recently. He will oversee innovation in makeup, partnering with research and development, manufacturing, product development, product marketing, integrated marketing, creative and operations.
Cheow will continue to operate his own aromatherapy company, Necessary Luxury, which produces small batches of oils and "mind-set mists."
Cheow spent more than a decade with L'Oréal, working his way up to a job he created, where he was in charge of identifying beauty trends and working them into L'Oréal brands. He moved on from that role to join NYX in 2018, where he became vice president of global product development.
Cheow was named one of WWD's 10 of Tomorrow in 2017.
Coty Names Interim Heads for Supply Chain, Procurement
Gianluca Colombo and Jean-Claude Thomas have been named interim heads of procurement and supply operations, respectively.
Luc Volatier, 51, the current chief global supply officer, is retiring from Coty, the company said.
Colombo will serve as chief procurement officer, and Thomas will serve as head of supply operations. Both will report to Pierre Laubies, Coty's chief executive officer.
In a statement, Coty said the shifts are meant to help it further the turnaround plan, now that supply chain problems are a thing of the past.
Sally Beauty Taps Pamela Kohn as Chief Merchandising Officer
Sally Beauty Holdings has appointed Pamela Kohn as senior vice president, chief merchandising officer, starting Oct. 1.
Kohn was most recently executive vice president, chief merchandising and marketing officer for the Family Dollar division of Dollar Tree Inc. Before that, she held the same job at Fresh Market. Kohn has also worked at Walmart, where she held jobs in merchandising, sourcing, supply chain, operations and real estate.
"She will help us continue to build our strong assortment of owned and exclusive brands that differentiate both Sally Beauty and Beauty Systems Group," Chris Brickman, president and chief executive officer of Sally, said in a statement.
