A new study sheds light on how the novel Coronavirus in the region and between different countries spread. Therefore, limiting the international air traffic at the beginning of the pandemic has delayed the spread.
The results show that the spread between the countries in the early phase of the pandemic is mainly due to international flight connections and less by Arriving at common borders. In contrast to land travel, air transport of the Coronavirus allowed to skip in a very short time, countries and continents.
In addition to border closures, particularly the closure of international airports was, therefore, an important measure to delay the international spread of Covid-19. Occasionally, the results also show that countries that have reduced the air traffic later, have higher rates of infection. The study is published in the journal "Letters in Spatial and Resource Sciences" appeared.
