Roses are red/ violets are blue/ water is disgusting as is/ these are all things we know to be true!
That’s a poem I just wrote to tell you about Walmart’s new “rosé wine drink enhancer,” a product so new, it’s not even listed on their website yet. So how do we know of its existence, you ask? Via the one and only @CandyHunting, of course!
Here’s what we do know, from both the above Instagram post and other miscellaneous web stalking I’ve just done: The product is a pretty standard flavor additive, one you put a few drops of into a glass of water in order to transform the taste completely. The stuff is made of “natural flavors with other natural flavors,” which is both (1) extremely unclear and (2) seemingly not a typo, as everywhere else the product is pictured online so far, the bottle reads the same. (Ed. note: @CandyHunting, a flavor chemist, reached out to clarify that “natural flavor with other natural flavors” is a legit term: “For a ‘natural flavor’ claim, the flavor has to be sourced from whatever the product is claiming to be. For example, if you have an orange product and add flavor derived from oranges, that’s ‘natural flavor.’ If you were to add flavor derived from lemons or limes to that orange product, that would be ‘with other natural flavors.'”)
You can find the rosé flavoring in the juice aisle at your local Walmart, @CandyHunting notes, as it is a non-alcoholic additive from the store’s Great Value brand. It is also sugar-free, for those concerned about the effects chugging something wine-like throughout the day might have on their bodies!
As for whether or not it really makes your water taste like your favorite wine? That remains to be seen. Only one way to find out, you know. And that way is to chug some water with rosé wine drink enhancer in it and then to chug some actual rosé. Let us know your thoughts when you’re done, though, OK? Thank you so very much.
