If you’ve ever belonged to a commercial gym, you’ve experienced the extreme annoyance that comes when you’re surrounded by groups of people too fixated on their phones to finish a single rep.
These encounters are one of the most frustrating things to encounter at the gym, and your ire is justified if the distracted gym-goer is just scrolling away to break up the time between their minimal effort machine sets. One Instagram comedian decided he had enough of waiting patiently, and took matters into his own hands. Of course, he recorded the whole experience.
The video, which was spotted first by Muscle and Fitness, shows online comedian @nasnino spraying people that he saw on their smartphones at the gym. Well, most of them looked like they were on their phones. Others might have been resting between sets innocently before the prankster and his spray bottle came around.

That’s one way to get someone’s attention, especially if they’ve got headphones in.
Then again, it’s easy to imagine being annoyed as the person getting drenched with water. Sometimes you may need a breather in between sets and want to switch the song on your Spotify, or answer a text—those things all require you to look down at your phone, and don’t deserve a spray of random fluid to the face. Plus, in this guy’s short video, he doesn’t even limit his range to just people lollygagging on their phones—some people are sprayed mid-set.
That makes the spritzing not only invasive, but distracting and obnoxious too.
If you’re waiting for a machine and getting to be a little impatient or frustrated, that’s certainly a normal—and appropriate—reaction. But there’s a better way to handle it than spraying someone or invading their personal space. Use your words, and ask them if they’ll be done soon, or if you can work in. You’ll definitely have an easier time than this spray bottle scheme, even if you don’t go viral.
