It’s not uncommon to hear ‘I don’t really have a sweet tooth’ from people in your close circle. And fair enough, some people would just rather binge on a packet of chips instead of a block of chocolate.
But when it comes to birthdays, there aren’t many options.
Birthday cakes have been around since at least the 19th century and are a staple for everyone’s annual passing around the sun – think delicious buttercream, soft sponge cake, and creative designs. But what options are out there for us savoury-loving folks?
As the years roll on, people have adapted and modified the celebration of their birth, and it turns out a bunch of people have combined their love for Mexican food and birthdays with none other than birthday taco cakes.
The idea revolves around making a bunch of tacos – soft or hard shell as preferred – and shaping them into the age of the birthday person.
According to Diply, it seems like the trend was sparked by a Houston restaurant called Las Brasas Tacos & Grill. They happily make birthday taco arrangements to suit whatever age you’re turning and can add in whatever toppings your heart desires.
