Stomach bloating – the herbal supplement that’s a quick fix for trapped wind pain

Bloating can make the stomach feel swollen, hard, and it’s generally quite uncomfortable.

But, one of the best and easiest ways to quickly get rid of your bloating is to take peppermint oil supplements.

They’re commonly used for other conditions, but may also help to relieve your stomach pain after a big meal.

Peppermint helps to protect against bloating pain as it relaxes the intestinal muscles, according to medical website Medical News Today.

Trapped wind is subsequently able to pass along the intestinal tract more effectively.

The supplements were primarily made available as a treatment for irritable bowel syndromes symptoms.

But, they’ve also been found to be effective for patients that often develop indigestion.

“Many home remedies can help to manage the pain and discomfort of bloating,” it said.

“Peppermint oil capsules may also be helpful for indigestion and related gas.

“Peppermint works by relaxing the intestinal muscles, which allows gas and stool to move along more effectively.

“People should always follow the instructions on the packet. Anyone who is prone to heartburn may need to avoid peppermint.”

Peppermint has also been claimed to relieve tension headaches, while also protecting against clogged sinuses.

Meanwhile, you could also lower your risk of bloating pain by simply adding coriander to your dinner.

It stimulates the production of digestive enzymes inside the gut, according to nutritionist Dr Josh Axe.

Adding more coriander to your diet should help to improve your overall digestion, and subsequently relieve bloating pain.

Stomach bloating may also be caused by constipation, trapped wind, irritable bowel syndrome, or even by swallowing too much air.

You could swallow air by drinking through a straw, or by talking with your mouth full of food.

Speak to a doctor if your bloating symptoms don’t go away, said the NHS. It could be caused by something more serious, including ovarian or bowel cancer.

While stomach pain is unlikely to be caused by a type of cancer, it’s always worth getting it checked by a medical professional.
