Stomach bloating affects most people at some point in their lifetime, according to the NHS. But you could relieve your bloating past fast by taking peppermint supplements, it’s been claimed.
Bloating can make the stomach feel swollen, hard, and it’s generally quite uncomfortable.
Your bloating pain may be caused by eating certain gassy foods, or by eating too fast or too much.
But, one of the best and easiest ways to get rid of bloating pain is to take peppermint capsules, it’s been claimed.
Peppermint is a natural remedy for indigestion and trapped wind, despite being primarily used for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) symptoms.
The supplements help to relax the muscles inside the intestines, according to medical website Medical News Today.
That allows trapped gas to pass through the digestive system easier.
Peppermint has also been claimed to protect against cramping, nausea and vomiting.
Always read the labels for the correct dosage, but around 90mg of peppermint oil should relieve your symptoms, it’s been claimed.

“When bloating occurs right after a meal, it usually resolves itself, but it is often possible to speed up this process,” it said.
“Peppermint oil capsules may be helpful for indigestion and related gas. Manufacturers usually market them as a treatment for the symptoms of IBS, but people without IBS can also use them to relieve bloating.
“Peppermint works by relaxing the intestinal muscles, which allows gas and stool to move along more effectively.
“People should always follow the instructions on the packet. Anyone who is prone to heartburn may need to avoid peppermint.”
Meanwhile, if you don’t have any peppermint supplements at home, you could also try certain yoga poses to relieve your bloating pain.
The exercises position the stomach muscles in a specific way that encourages trapped wind to move through the gastrointestinal tract.
Alternatively, try going for a brisk walk after a large meal, as physical activity can instigate bowel movements.
Relieving your constipation is one of the easiest ways to obtain relief from trapped gas.
Stomach bloating may also be caused by constipation, trapped wind, irritable bowel syndrome, or even by swallowing too much air.
You could swallow air by drinking through a straw, or by talking with your mouth full of food.
Speak to a doctor if your bloating symptoms don’t go away, said the NHS. It could be caused by something more serious, including ovarian or bowel cancer.
While stomach pain is unlikely to be caused by a type of cancer, it’s always worth getting it checked by a medical professional.
