Ex-model and presenter Lisa Snowdown has lived a life many would envy. The star has become a household name due to her various presenting gigs both on television and radio. Now the starlet is highlighting a cause close to her heart which surprisingly remains a taboo subject despite the millions of other women suffering with it too.
Lisa Snowdown, 49, has spent decades in front of the cameras and has always been open about her own life and various struggles.
The presenter recently bravely revealed her harrowing menopausal symptoms she endured which included over the top emotions and manic rages.
Fortunately, with the help of hormone replace therapy (HRT) the starlet has finally began to feel herself again and calls it a “game changer”.
HRT is a medication which contains female hormones.
The medication is taken to help replace the oestrogen which the body stops making during menopause.
It is often used to help minimise menopausal symptoms which are known to cause hot flashes, vaginal discomfort or heightened emotions.

Lisa was only 44 years old when she began experiencing peri-menopause symptoms.
The ex-model discussed the shock of how young she was to experience such symptoms and stressed the importance of opening up the misconceptions regarding menopause to Lorraine Kelly.
“It definitely crept up on me, there wasn’t a day I can pinpoint when it started,” she explained.
Lisa’s early symptoms included low mood, depression and anxiety.
Sadly, her diagnosis of menopause meant having a child was now impossible for her.
Interestingly a new study has found that women who have never given birth or been pregnant have double the odds of reaching the menopause before the age of 40, compared to those who have been pregnant.
Researchers also found they are also 30 percent more likely to start the menopause between the ages of 40 and 44.
Researchers from University College London and the University of Queensland analysed 50,000 women taking part in nine studies across the world.
The findings also showed that women who had their first period at age 11 or younger had an 80 percent higher risk of experiencing the menopause before the age of 40, compared to those whose first menstrual cycle started between the ages of 12 and 13.
For Lisa finding treatments to help reduce her symptoms was crucial.
“I am now on HRT. I wouldn’t be without it, it’s changed everything.
“I’m myself again. I’m not screaming at my partner; I’m not having rages.”
The presenter is such an advocate for HRT she is now backing the Fabulous Menopause Matters campaign which helps to shed a light on the importance of making menopause an important topic today.
