Those who follow fashion blogger Jessica Stein (aka, Tuula Vintage) would know the heartbreaking story of her daughter who was born with Mosaic Trisomy 2 – a very rare genetic disorder that has less than 10 cases in literature. But despite the challenges little Rumi faces day-to-day, she’s just reached a major milestone: her second birthday.
“Our Ru is two! ??♀️?????? ? ,” Jess captioned a gallery on Instagram. “We never would have thought that having Ru’s birthday in hospital would end up being one of the best days of her life. But as always I’m reminded to never expect anything else from the tiniest, mightiest girl who turns every moment in to beaming love and laughter. We are eternally grateful to everyone at @sydney_kids, @starlightau, @clowndoctorsaus, @rmhc_sydney and most of all her nurses (who became like second family) on C2S for taking care of and loving on our crazy girl so, so much. ?❤️”
The post – which includes adorable snaps and videos of the youngster enjoying her special day – has racked up more than 128,000 likes in a matter of hours, with many fans sending well wishes the family’s way.
“Happy birthday warrior princess ❤️” one comment read. “What an amazing job the staff do to make a kids day so special amongst all the hardships,” said another. “Sending you all the best wishes and hope Ru had an amazing day xx”
The happy news comes just weeks after Jess penned another emotional post highlighting the toddler’s strength and determination in the face of her poor health.
“Here I am wondering how to get through each day and then you smile, and your laugh turns in to a cackle until you can barely breathe… Baby girl you’re the most resilient I’ll ever know,” she wrote.
A very happy birthday to you, Ru.
