Being overweight and obese massively increases your chances of developing life-threatening illnesses, so it’s important to watch your waistline. If you’re struggling to lose weight, there’s no magic pill that will fix it all. However, this one drink could help you reach the finish line.

While body positivity and self-acceptance are key to a happy life, it’s more important to be a healthy weight.

If you are overweight or obese, your weight could lead to a number of serious and potentially deadly life-threatening conditions, including:

  • coronary heart disease
  • some types of cancer, such as breast cancer and bowel cancer
  • stroke

If you are overweight, this is generally because you are consuming more calories than you are burning through physical activity.

When this happens, the excess energy is stored by the body as fat and you gain weight.

The most common problem associated with weight gain is eating excessive amounts of cheap high-calorie food, particularly fatty and sugary foods.

This is why the first step to losing weight is cutting down on calories and making smarter food choices.

The NHS recommends eating regular meals throughout the day to avoid the temptation to snack on foods high in fat and sugar.

You should also avoid skipping meals, as this will lead to snacking.

Make sure you’re eating lots of fruit and vegetables as these are low in calories and fat, high in fibre and contain plenty of vitamins and minerals.

You need to eat lots of fibre, drink lots of water and be as active as possible.

The tasty drink to boost weight loss

You won’t transform your body by adding just one thing to your diet, but it’s a start.

Cutting out alcohol and fizzy drinks and replacing them with tea will help to boost weight loss.

People often confuse thirst with hunger, and when this happens you can end up consuming extra calories.

The NHS recommends drinking six to eight glasses of fluid a day, and this can include tea.

Rosehip and Hibiscus tea could help you on your mission to losing weight, according to Kiran Tawadey, the founder of Hampstead Tea.

The tea expert said: “I must stress that tea alone is not a weight-loss tool as nothing can replace diet or exercise.

“However, Rosehip and Hibiscus tea has had some studies proving that it may help weight loss due to tiliroside, an antioxidant which has some fat-burning properties.”

Oolong Leaf tea could also help, as this tea is sometimes used in weight loss alongside diet control as it suppresses appetite and is said to burn fat.
