Cinch Yogurt Recipes

Copyright 2008 Karen Hurd Enterprises, Inc.  All rights reserved

Tired of Cinch Shakes? If you’ve been on the Cinch plan a while you may need a little variety in your 2 Cinch meals a day. I’m a yogurt lover, but my 1 cup of yogurt everyday didn’t quite fit into my personal Cinch plan, and the 4 oz variety, was too little for me. These variations are good anytime!  They satisfy my yogurt craving, are very filling and really change up my plan.  I used organic fat free plain yogurt.  It was the only fat free yogurt I found that had no aspartame of Splenda ™. These yogurt meals are filling and easy to whip up.  I used ¾ cup instead of 1 cup to keep the calorie count down.  1 cup fat free yogurt is 110 calories vs 90 calories for light soy milk or 100 calories for non-fat milk.  I’m sure that you could substitute soy yogurt, sheeps milk yogurt or coconut yogurt. Just watch for the fat/calorie content.

If you choose to use vanilla yogurt, the calorie count will increase.

You don’t need any extra sweetener because the Cinch TM shake mix is naturally sweet.  If you must add sweetener, add some stevia or a little xylitol.  I add some water to thin it or it will be too thick.

These are really yummy and make me feel full.  Not on Cinch yet?  See me or visit my Cinch Plan site.

Pumpkin Pie yogurt – my new favorite

¾ cup fat free plain yogurt (80 calories)
¼ cup canned pumpkin (22 calories) counts as ½ vegetable
2 scoops Cinch ™ vanilla shake mix
½ tsp cinnamon or to taste
dash ginger
2 drops vanilla extract
2T water – to thin the yogurt/Cinch ™ mix

This is a really good substitute for pumpkin pie!

Pina Colada yogurt

¾ cup fat free yogurt – (80) calories
2 scoops Cinch TM vanilla shake
2-3T crushed pineapple.  Fresh is better, canned works just fine Count it as part of your fruit serving
2 drops drops rum flavoring

Mocha Expresso Yogurt

¾ cup fat free plain yogurt (80 Calories)
2 scoops Caffe Latte Cinch ™ Shake mix
2 tsp cocoa baking powder (not chocolate milk mix)
Couple drops vanilla extract

Change it up – switch to 2 scoops chocolate Cinch ™
shake mix
1 tsp coffee granules

Can use coffee to thin the yogurt/Cinch mixture

Berry Good Yogurt

¾ cup fat free plain yogurt
2 scoops Cinch ™ strawberry shake mix
couple of drops vanilla or orange or almond extract
¼ cup fresh or frozen blueberries
¼ cup fresh or frozen strawberries

The fruit in this will count as 1 fruit serving on your Cinch ™ plan.

Peanut Butter Cookie Yogurt – may need a blender for this one!

¾ cup fat free plain or vanilla yogurt
2 scoops Cinch ™ vanilla shake mix
2T natural peanut butter creamy or crunchy style – this counts as 2 fat servings
2 drops vanilla extract

Mix it up well!

Change it up! Almost like Reese’s ™ yogurt

¾  cup Fat-free plain yogurt
2 scoops Cinch™ chocolate shake mix
1 tsp cocoa baking powder
2 drops vanilla extract

Coffee Addict – this should quench the craving of the most ardent coffee lover

¾ cup fat-free plain yogurt
2 scoops Cinch™ Caffe Latte shake mix
2 drops vanilla
1 tsp instant coffee granules
dash cinnamon

Thin this  w/coffee.  You may want to add some stevia or xylitol

Diabetes has a New Face

Alzheimer’s disease is now being recognized not only as a deterioration of the brain, but as a problem of too little insulin, that then begins destroying brain cells.  In other words, Alzheimer’s may start with the blood sugar levels in your body, not in your brain.  Too few insulin receptors on your brain cells (neurons)and you can’t learn, or remember and the cells die sooner.

Now that may sound techy, so let’s simplify it. Insulin is a hormone in your body. It signals to your cells that there is glucose (blood sugar) available to feed the cells.  Basically insulin says to your cells-”Dinner’s ready!  Come and get it!”, and attaches to the insulin receptors on the cell (think- door knob).  The insulin, grabs the “door knob”, the door to the cell opens and the cell then takes in the glucose and goes about its business well fed.

The problem is when you eat way too much sugar, refined carbohydrates, and white starchy stuff, you don’t exercise, or get enough lean protein, and your blood sugar remains high.  The door knobs start coming off of your cells.  your cells don’t get the glucose.  Insulin, doing its job, starts making even more insulin, in effect shouting- “HEY! Wake Up!  Open up!”.  Too much insulin and you crash.  Repeat this over time, and your pancreas figures that you aren’t cooperating, and now it won’t make any insulin.  Now your blood sugar is permanently high.

Welcome to Type 2 Diabetes, a serious disease with fatal side effects like heart disease, nerve damage, blindness, premature aging of your cells, increased cancer risk, and oh yes, it can progress to Type 3 Diabetes – Alzheimer’s.  Scientists are now studying the connection between insulin, memory, and brain health.

So here’s the good news – you can prevent Type 2 Diabetes, even if it runs in the family.  Your older relatives may have Alzheimer’s but you don’t have too.  And preventing all of this misery are relatively simple steps that can extend your life.

For starters, take a look at the Cinch program(TM- Shaklee Corporation).  It’s extraordinarily effective, the products are safe enough for children to eat, and very good for Type 2 diabetics.   We’re talking about simple lifestyle changes and renewed health.

The Proper Way to Weigh yourself

The Good News About Weight Loss Plateaus

Tips on how to manage your diet when the scale won’t budge

Reshaping your body, losing inches does take some determination to stay the course. If you have tried several different diets, done crash-dieting or even tried weight-loss wonder pills, your body’s metabolism needs time to heal. Anytime you restrict calories, your body assumes that you may not eat again, and it slows down your metabolism. If you have been extreme in your dieting, you may have severely damaged the glands that regulate your metabolism.

It can happen to anyone. One man who lost over 100 pound on the Shaklee Cinch plan actually had a plateau that lasted for six months, before the pounds and inches started coming off again! Most people won’t experience a plateau that stubborn. Here are some tips to help you through plateau time.

Key point: muscle weighs more than fat! Especially if you are using Cinch, you are building muscle. So you may see a weight gain, or slower loss, but your clothes fit better!

Look for other ways to measure your progress:

Inches/Body measurements: dress size, waist, hips, neck, arms, fitting into favorite clothes

Performance –more endurance during exercise, doing them at a higher level, jumping higher, walking longer, running faster, playing a sport better

Mood and Attitude – rate energy level, rate attitude and outlook, track how often you feel very sleepy during the day, rate your confidence level

Health – blood pressure, cholesterol level, blood sugar level, food cravings, appetite for healthy foods, quality of sleep

Intangibles – how you look, compliments you receive, self-confidence, how others respond to you.

No matter what – stay on track! Plateaus are not fun, but they are a good sign that your body is changing, healing and rebuilding itself. A plateau means that your body is adjusting to becoming the new you! You are forming life habits that will keep you at a healthy weight. Hang around friends who will encourage you. Avoid trigger foods. Be patient. The plateau will come to an end, and the weight will start falling off. You will always be glad you “fought back” by outlasting the plateau.

We’re Getting Cinched!

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

Last Fall (2007), I was getting really bugged about my weight. Like many people who struggle with weight issues, I wanted it off, but I had difficulty truly committing to my long term goal. Maybe I was “afraid” that I wouldn’t keep it off. Maybe I didn’t think that I had time to exercise. Maybe I was just plain lazy. We have 5 kids (ages 6-21) and so there was always an excuse to cook something, have extra snacks and treats…you know the drill. Mom and Dad often eat what the kids eat. And we don’t want to “waste” food, so we made sure there were not any leftovers.

Did I mention that I hate to exercise?

Fortuneately, we had been using Shaklee products for years. They had helped to keep us healthy. I truly believe that the protein shakes, and snack bars and vitamins kept us from gaining even more weight. In other words, we were indulging in all kinds of goodies. We would have been much heavier if it weren’t for Shaklee.

The Shaklee Corporation introduced Cinch in August 2006. I had read the hundreds of stories. I tried it and found that I lost weight on my belly (from Baby #5)and on my hips – the hardest places for a woman to lose weight. I was thrilled.

BUT – my curiosity was satisfied. I knew that Cinch worked. I even kept the inches and weight off for 9 months without even trying. Pretty Cool.

Stay tuned. I have already lost 5 1/2″ in just 3 weeks. My clothes are already getting looser, and I can fit into my old white jeans. I am not hungry. I don’t have cravings. I can watch my kids eat snacks and not want any! I’m now satisfied with smaller food portions. Woohoo!
